Abstract
The C-10 oxygen substituent can be reductively removed in high yield b y reaction of taxol, baccatin III, or 10-deacetylbaccatin III with sam anium diiodied. This reaction pathway can be completely shut down by p rotection of the C-7 hydroxyl group of baccatin III as the triethylsil yl ether.
