Abstract
A new class of lignan analogues has been synthesized by means of tande m conjugate addition-alkylation of butenolides. Furan and thiophene de rivatives have been obtained by this method. This type of compounds ha s been called heterolignanolides and the generic name heterolignans is proposed for this class of lignan analogues.
