J. Mateu et al., BACKGROUND LEVELS AND LONG-RANGE TRANSPORT OF MAJOR INORGANIC COMPONENTS OF AEROSOLS OVER THE BALEARIC-ISLANDS, Journal of environmental science and health. Part A: Environmental science and engineering, 29(2), 1994, pp. 321-337
Aerosols collected at the Alfabia station (1100 m above sea level in M
ajorca, Spain), in the North Western Mediterranean region were analyse
d for major inorganic components (sulphate, nitrate, chloride, ammoniu
m, calcium, sodium, magnesium and potassium). Based on the results and
their statistics, the aerosols were found to contain species from thr
ee different sources: marine, anthropogenic and natural. Also, the amm
onium ion concentration was found to be correlated with those of sulph
ate and nitrate.
