Abstract
The review presents data on the structure and functions of the nucleol us organizer region and relations of the organizer with cell proteins. A particular role of some non-histone acidic proteins and RNA-polymer ase I in disclosure of the nucleolus organizer region by means of silv er nitrate is described. The data presented demonstrate the significan ce of the nucleolus organizer region for determination of the tumour g rowth peculiarities.
