Ns. Gutnik et al., THE HORMONAL STATUS OF GIRLS-TEENAGERS EV ACUATED FROM THE TOWN OF PRIPYAT 6 YEARS AFTER THE CHERNOBYL DISASTER, Eksperimental'naa onkologia, 15(6), 1993, pp. 60-65
The hormonal status has been studied in 504 girls-teenagers evacuated
from t. Pripyat and in 248 girls, inhabitants of Kiev. The levels of p
eptide and steroid hormones in the blood plasma were measured by radio
immunoassay using RIA-kits. The examination of girls from Pripyat has
revealed a significant deviation from the rated value of 7 from 11 hor
mones studied. An increase in the cortisol level was common of both gr
oups studied, but its significant increase was observed only in girls
from Kiev. The alterations of the hormonal status found in the patient
s examined impell the necessity to form the risk groups of children wh
ose endocrine status should be put under paramount observation in orde
r to carry out timely correction of hormonal disturbances if necessary
.
