ULTRASTRUCTURAL DOUBLE-LABELING USING COLLOIDAL GOLD

Immunogold double labelling is an under-utilized technique that is eff ective in indicating the presence, distribution and relative abundance of antigens in cellular systems. Current processing, embedding and im munolabelling techniques allow double labelling to be carried out at r oom temperatures, using routine electron microscope laboratory equipme nt. This review compares the available methodologies and presents some applications of light and ultrastructural immunogold labelling. The s ubjects of controls, antibody selection and quantitation are also disc ussed.
