Abstract
We report three patients with internal malignancies (systemic malignan t histiocytosis, abdominal centroblastic-centrocytic lymphoma, metasta tic squamous cell carcinoma of the lung) who developed cutaneous lesio ns in association with systemically administered chemotherapeutic agen ts. Biopsies of the skin lesions revealed similar histopathological pa tterns which were characterized by the presence of interface dermatiti s with abnormal epidermal maturation associated with syringosquamous m etaplasia. It is concluded that chemotherapy-induced cutaneous lesions exhibit similar and easily recognizable histopathological features, d espite differences in the clinical spectrum and implanted drug regimen s.
