Abstract
The trinuclear copper(II) complex [Cu(3)L(2)(OAc)(2)] (where L = diaza -5,5-dimethyl-2,8-bis(2'-hydroxyphenyl)nonane was prepared and charact erized by UV-Vis, IR and ESR spectral studies, elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure determination shows that the copper atoms are arranged in a linear fashion and the coordination geometry around each copper atom is square pyramidal. The Cu ... Cu distances are 2.969(1) and 2.942(1) Angstrom. The crystal i s orthorhombic with space group Pbca, a = 18.478(2), b = 22.422(1), c = 27.008(10) Angstrom and Z = 8. The structure was refined to final R( f) = 0.060 for 4641 reflections with I> 1.8 sigma(I).
