Hd. Bauer et al., MEASUREMENT OF SOOT AT WORKPLACES AND IN AMBIENT AIR - COMPARISON OF 2 TESTING-METHODS, Staub, Reihhaltung der Luft, 54(2), 1994, pp. 55-57
A report is given on measurements which have been carried out in order
to compare two testing methods for soot concentrations in air. Sample
s of fine dust were taken from ambient air and each sample was divided
into two parts for further treatment in different ways. Differentiati
on between elemental carbon (EC), total carbon (TC) and carbon related
to organic compounds (OC) was accomplished either by thermal desorpti
on or liquid extraction. A good agreement of the soot concentrations r
epresented by the EC values was achieved using these two methods.
