Study objectives: To describe the importance of measuring work of brea thing (WOB) in patients with high airway resistance (Raw) during conti nuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) support. Design: Fundamental stu dy using an advanced model lung and a pulmonary function monitor. Sett ing: A research laboratory at the ICU of a university hospital.
