Polidocanol was instilled in fire pleural cavities of three pigs. Adhe
sions formed in all. Adhesion distribution varied from covering a mino
r part to most of the lung, depending on the amount of polidocanol. On
e control cavity treated with sodium chloride was unaffected. Microsco
py showed fibrous bridges between the pleural layers and mild submesot
helial fibrosis and inflammation.
