Coronary artery fistulas have been traditionally diagnosed by angiogra
phy. This report describes a congenital and a traumatic coronary arter
y fistula diagnosed by transesophageal echocardiography. Transesophage
al echocardiography was superior to transthoracic echocardiography in
both cases and to angiography in one case. Transesophageal echocardiog
raphy may now be the procedure of choice in diagnosing coronary fistul
a.
