An attempt to assess natural vs. unnatural contributions to particulat
e metal concentrations in the estuarine region of Pato Lagoon was made
. Particulate samples were collected under seasonal extremes of river
discharge and should therefore reflect a wide range of conditions whic
h potentially influence particulate metal levels. High excess metal fl
uxes observed for copper and lead reflect either inputs related to a u
nique industrial activity occurring in the watershed of Patos Lagoon.
