The chiral (pi-allyl)Pd(II) complex [Pd(eta3-CH3CHCHCH2)(S, S-Chirapho
s)]CF3SO3, was shown to exist in four isomeric forms (two diastereomer
ic and two geometric). Aspects of their three-dimensional structures w
ere elucidated using H-1, C-13 and P-31 one- and two-dimensional NMR m
ethods. The assignment of the diastereomers, which differ with respect
to the coordinated face of the allyl ligand, was achieved using H-1-N
OESY methods.
