Abstract
The performance and programming model of the Fujitsu VPP500 vector/par allel computer for particle-in-cell codes is evaluated and compared to other parallel computers, In case of the large codes included in the so-called NEXT project, the performance of a 16-node VPP500 is compara ble to that of a 256-node Paragon.
