Abstract
The thin (20-1300 nm) near-to-wall layers of benzene mono- and disubst itutes were investigated. The electron pattern procedure was used in t he experiments. It was stated that the polymolecular layers near the s urface of philic solid substrate (quartz in our case) had constituted the special liquid crystalline epitropic phase (ELC). The dependence o f the order PE parameter and the thickness of the orientationally orde red layer of ELC on the peculiarities of molecule structure was discus sed. The mechanism of epitropic phase organization was discussed too. (C) 1991 Academic Press, Inc.
