The author describes the musical instruments used by the Wayana, an Am
erindian group who live in the Amazonian forest (Brazil, Surinam, and
French Guiana). In particular, he shows the typological variety and th
e originality of the instruments. Among them, wind instruments compris
e the greatest part, including flutes, trumpets, and clarinets. The au
thor points out the circumstances of their use (past and present), lea
ving out the complex musical aspects of repertoires.
