Dk. Reed et al., RELATIONSHIP OF AN APHID PARASITOIDS LARVAL GROWTH-CHARACTERISTICS AND MUMMY WEIGHT, The Southwestern entomologist, 18(4), 1993, pp. 245-250
Comparisons of mummy weight with age and developmental stage of the im
mature parasitoid at weighing times and age of aphids at time of paras
itization indicated that mummy weight was not a reliable predictor of
parasitoid development. Measures of adult parasitoid weight, body size
, and time to maturation provided better estimates of development. His
tological analysis of parasitized aphids showed the typical Aphidiid l
ife cycle with the exception that an additional stage, previously term
ed an ''embryo'', was observed.
