Mh. Badii et al., FUNCTIONAL-RESPONSE OF EUSEIUS-MESEMBRINU S (DEAN) AS FUNCTION OF BREVIPALPUS-CALIFORNICUS (BANKS) DENSITY (ACARI, PHYTOSEIIDAE, TENUIPALPIDAE), The Southwestern entomologist, 18(4), 1993, pp. 301-304
The functional response of Euseius mesembrinus on larvae and female in
dividuals of Brevipalpus californicus, was type II, using the leaf are
na technique, The instantaneous rate of discovery a' and the handling
time T(h) were determined using the models of Holling type II, Rogers
and that of Livdahl and Stiven. The highest value for a' and the lowes
t for T(h) were obtained when feeding on females, the reverse was true
for larvae as prey. The value of a (1.5240) of Rogers' was double of
that of Holling's (0.7842) when feeding on prey larvae. The highest T(
h) value (larvae as prey) was estimated according to Livdah and Stiven
's model (0.0128).
