Abstract
The vibrational level upsilon' = 2 of the B state of ICl has been stud ied, using laser excitation and fluorescence detection on a molecular beam. The hyperfine structure of the lines have been measured and this data has refined the knowledge of the hyperfine constants of the B st ate. The relative intensities of the hyperfine components have reveale d a hyperfine predissociation of these levels and the corresponding hy perfine predissociation parameter a(upsilon) has been measured. Finall y, the B state predissociation is discussed in the light of this new i nformation.
