Six solid compounds of composition [TlMe2(dtc)] (where dtc is a dithio
carbamate anion) have been obtained. [TlMe2(S2CNnPr2)] Crystallizes in
the space group C2 with a = 19.672(2), b = 8.5698(5), c = 9.194(2) an
gstrom, beta = 116.02(1)-degrees and Z = 4. The thallium atom is coord
inated to the two sulfur atoms of a slightly anisobidentate dithiocarb
amate ligand and to the two methyl groups, which form a highly distort
ed tetrahedral environment. In the crystal lattice these units are lin
ked by additional weak Tl...S interactions. The main coordination char
acteristics of this compound seem to be common to the other complexes
prepared, both in the solid state and in solution in CDCl3 or DMSO-d6,
to judge by their spectral (IR and NMR) properties.
