Yb. Rosato et al., CLONING OF A LOCUS INVOLVED IN PATHOGENICITY AND PRODUCTION OF EXTRACELLULAR POLYSACCHARIDE AND PROTEASE IN XANTHOMONAS-CAMPESTRIS PV CAMPESTRIS, FEMS microbiology letters, 117(1), 1994, pp. 41-45
A Tn5-induced mutant of Xanthomonas campestris pv campestris deficient
in protease and extracellular polysaccharide production, and non-path
ogenic to turnip seedlings, was isolated. Recombinant clones which res
tored all three characteristics concomitantly were obtained from a wil
d-type genomic library. One of the plasmid clones, pIJ3090, showed no
hybridization to previously isolated clones involved In protease produ
ction. The mutant was not also complemented by other known clones invo
lved in pathogenicity, in xanthan gum production or in protease produc
tion.
