Abstract
Articulatory trajectories of an articulatory model were recovered by m eans of a genetic algorithm from acoustic information using a task-dyn amic model of speech articulation. Tests on simulated utterances /Ib d ipthong ae/ and /Id dipthong ae/ show that the method can recover most of parts of an original trajectory, but it has trouble in obtaining p recise timing. For the recovery of articulation, formant frequency tra jectories should be supplemented by additional acoustic information, s uch as RMS amplitude.
