Single crystals of Mn3B7O13Br (Mn-Br) boracite were studied between 30
0 and 550K by means of thermal, dielectric, pyroelectric and ferroelec
tric characterization, under simultaneous visual control of the ferroe
lectric/ferroelastic domain state of the samples. We observe an unusua
l change of sign of the pyroelectric coefficient in Mn-Br at about 440
K which can be an indication of the existence of a new phase transiti
on in this compound. A preliminary DSC study seems to confirm the pres
ence of such a transition.
