Abstract
A tortuous ureter can prevent successful retrograde ureteral access. F orceful attempts at catheterizing a ureteral kink may result in perfor ation and urinary extravasation. We review the currently recommended t echniques to negotiate the tortuous ureter and present an additional e ndourological maneuver to bypass those kinks refractory to conventiona l methods.
