Abstract
A new ester has been isolated from the chloroform fraction of the aeri al parts of the high altitude Himalayan herb Pleurospermum densiflorum . It was identified as octacosanyl hexadecanoate by means of IR, MS an d H-1 and C-13 NMR DEPT spectroscopy, as well as by hydrolytic studies . Two linear furanocoumarins, psoralen and bergapten, along with beta- sitosterol have been identified. Bergapten has been found to be presen t as a major constituent.
