Abstract
The thermal stability in oxygen of residual soot, after extraction wit h toluene, has been found to be lower than that of C60. Since the resi dual soot has been shown from previous studies to contain higher fulle renes, the present results suggest that the oxidative stability Of hig her fullerenes, rather surprisingly, is lower than that of C60.
