Stainless steel plates were joined using Fe-Mn-Al and Fe-Cr-Ni consuma
bles to evaluate the strength and corrosion resistance of the weldment
s. The Fe-Mn-Al consumables successfully joined austenitic stainless s
teel plates. However, the corrosion performance of the Fe-Mn-Al weld m
etals was poor. As a result, at room temperature, Fe-Mn-Al consumables
cannot replace Fe-Cr-Ni consumables in an acidic chloride-bearing env
ironment.
