Lm. Costa et al., GROWTH EXPERIMENTS WITH PLAICE (PLEURONECTES-PLATESSA L) FED WITH FRESH AND COMPOUND FOODS, Arquivos de biologia e tecnologia, 36(4), 1993, pp. 839-850
Larvae of plaice (Pleuronectes platessa L.) were reared for 20 days an
d fed with Artemia salina nauplii, two kinds of artificial diets combi
ned with live food, or artificial diets only. The growth and survival
rates of the larvae receiving the different diets was monitored. The p
laice could be reared from the first feeding to metamorphosis on fresh
ly hatched Artemia salina nauplii; Micromin plus live Artemia nauplii;
artificial plankton BP' plus Artemia nauplii and pure artificial plan
kton BP'. However, the feeding with artificial diets combined with Art
emia salina nauplii resulted in highest growth rate and lowest percent
age of mortality.
