Polyesterdiimide prepolymers containing synthesized diimide-diacid mon
omer (DIDAn) were synthesized under conditions previously reported. On
e-component varnishes were obtained by mixing the synthesized prepolym
ers with phenol-blocked toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and/or hexamethylen
e diisocyanate (HMDI). The solubility parameter of diimide-modified po
lyester prepolymer was investigated using an intrinsic viscosity measu
rement. Thermal behavior and pyrolysis activation energy were also inv
estigated using thermogravimetric analysis. The thermal stability incr
eased with an increase in the content of DIDA. The diimide-modified po
lyester one-component varnishes coated onto an aluminum panel were fou
nd to be acceptable, according to the specification of ASTM D-3794. (C
