Abstract
The use of mice with defined genetic defects engineered by homologous recombination in embryonic stem cells has greatly enhanced our underst anding of immune functions at the single-gene level. The complex molec ular interactions involved in T-cell development and antigen recogniti on have been especially targeted for detailed analysis via knockout te chnology.
