U. Junker et al., ON INDUCIBILITY AND FUNCTIONALITY OF THE INTERLEUKIN-6 RECEPTOR IN COMMON VARIABLE IMMUNODEFICIENCY (CVID), Allergologie, 17(2), 1994, pp. 39-43
We investigated the expression of the interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) o
n B- and T-cells of patients suffering from CVID and normal healthy co
ntrols before and after culture with pockeweed mitogen (PWM) and/or re
combinant human interleukin-6 (IL-6) and the influence of the IL-6 on
the production of immunoglobulins M and G (IgM, IgG). By correlating t
he inducibility of the IL-6R and the effect of the IL-6 onto the produ
ction of IgM and IgG a dysfunction of the IL-6/IL-6R system is propose
d for at least two of the patients.
