Abstract
Precracks generated in purely compressive cycles permit a determinatio n of threshold values DELTAK(th) and crack growth curves with increasi ng load amplitude only. They also permit to measure the effective thre shold DELTAK(eff th) and the dependence of DELTAK(th) on crack length. The production of such precracks is also discussed.
