A mathematical model of thermal desorption with internal electroresist
ive heating of the adsorbent is postulated for a single particle. Thre
e parallel mechanisms are considered: surface diffusion, pore diffusio
n and thermal diffusion. The resulting system of partial differential
equations is solved numerically using orthogonal collocation. Using th
e model, computer simulation is performed and the influence of differe
nt model parameters investigated. The advantage of desorption with int
ernal sorbent heating (such as electrothermal desorption) is proved.
