Yl. Mo et Yf. Chang, EFFECT OF 1ST-STORY SHEARWALLS WITH TEFLON SLIDERS ON EARTHQUAKE-RESISTANT BUILDINGS, Magazine of Concrete Research, 45(165), 1993, pp. 293-300
A practical system for earthquake-resistant building design is describ
ed. The system utilizes Teflon sliders at the top of the first-storey
reinforced concrete framed shearwalls to carry a portion of the supers
tructure. The earthquake forces are basically resisted by the first-st
orey reinforced concrete framed shearwalls, and energy dissipation is
provided by the first-storey ductile columns and by the Teflon sliders
. Utilizing this concept the seismic response characteristics of a mul
tistorey frame are analysed and discussed.
