Abstract
The following details are dealt with as a supplement to a recent publi cation on stress intensity factors for spot welds (and similar compoun ds) between plates of dissimilar materials. The stresses at bimaterial crack or slit tips are compactly plotted in two fundamental loading c ases. Equivalent stresses for strength assessments are derived. A simp le formula for the stress discontinuity in the interface plane is give n. The stress state is described approximately based on conventional s tress intensity factors.
