Abstract
The influence of glyphosate herbicide on aflatoxin production by Asper gillus parasiticus var.globosus IMI 120920 was studied in liquid mediu m, wheat straw and couch. Mycelium growth and aflatoxin production in 8% sucrose mineral salt culture were significantly higher at 100, 500 and 1000 ppm. Regarding wheat straw or couch cultures, aflatoxin produ ction significantly increased at 100 and 500 ppm, however, it inhibite d at 1000 ppm. This inhibition resulted from substrate degradation due to the low reducing sugars.
