Abstract
The results of phylogenetic analysis in which 16S ribosomal DNA sequen ces were compared confirmed previous chemotaxonomic data which suggest ed that Paracoccus halodentrificans is inappropriately placed in the g enus Paracoccus, which belongs in the a subclass of the Proteobacteria . P. halodenitrificans should be placed in the family Halomononadaceae , which belongs in the gamma subclass of the Proteobacteria.
