N. Lebolay et al., MASS-TRANSFER STUDY IN A PULSED BED ELECTRODE - APPLICATION TO THE ELECTRODEPOSITION OF A POLY(DIBENZO-18-CROWN-6) FILM, Canadian journal of chemical engineering, 72(1), 1994, pp. 153-159
The polymerization of dibenzo-18-crown-6 has been carried out in an el
ectrochemical reactor containing a granular electrode percolated by a
pulsed solution. The influence of different parameters (pulse frequenc
y, permanent flow velocity of the electrolytic solution, particle diam
eter and bed height) on the mass transfer has been studied. A correlat
ion between the reduced mass transfer coefficient and the Strouhal num
ber has been established. The maximum mass transfer coefficient and th
e maximum Strouhal number have been determined as a function of the Ga
lilee number. The correlation predicts well the mass transfer coeffici
ent over a larger range of the variables than previously achieved.
