Pi. Pasichnyk et al., OXIDATION OF PROPYLENE TO ACRYLIC-ACID AND ITS ESTERS CATALYZED BY PALLADIUM GIANT CLUSTERS, Mendeleev communications, (1), 1994, pp. 1-2
Propylene has been catalytically oxidized by dioxygen to acrylic acid
and/or its esters in high yield (60-80%) in acidified aqueous and/or a
lcoholic solutions of palladium-561 giant clusters, whereas ethylene h
as been converted to acetic acid; this is the first example of acid-pr
omoted palladium catalysis of alkene oxidation.
