Fs. Apple et Lm. Preese, CREATINE KINASE-MB - DETECTION OF MYOCARDIAL-INFARCTION AND MONITORING REPERFUSION, Journal of clinical immunoassay, 17(1), 1994, pp. 24-29
Creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB), although not cardiac specific, is the enzy
me currently used as the definitive serum marker for the diagnosis or
exclusion of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). This article reviews t
he diagnostic characteristics of CK-MB, including the clinical implica
tions of serial and single CK-MB levels, a quality assurance monitor f
or optimal use of CK-MB and lactate dehydrogenase (LD) isoenzyme testi
ng in myocardial infarction and reperfusion, and the methods and limit
ations of monoclonal anti-CK-MB antibody based immunoassays.
