Abstract
We distinguished major stages of the last glaciation (Bolling, Older D ryas, Allerod, Younger Dryas) and the Holocene by radiocarbon dating a nd paleobotanical analyses. Our paleobotanical investigation of peatla nds is well correlated with independent C-14 data. We establish that t he Atlantic and Subboreal stages of the Holocene have three divisions, and that the Subatlantic has two.
