Abstract
The mission of the Commercial Remote Sensing Program (CRSP) Office at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center is to maximize U.S. industry's exp loitation of remote sensing and related space-based technologies and t o develop advanced technical responses to spatial information requirem ents. This mission is accomplished through NASA partnerships with comp anies to develop remote sensing technology applications in response to market-driven spatial information demands. The program builds private -sector capability to supply economically viable remote sensing soluti ons. The CRSP conducts market research to identify technology limitati ons that ultimately drive NASA research and development initiatives. T hrough its commercial partnerships, the program hopes that market dema nd and advanced technology solutions will increase the use and reduce the cost of spatial data. This paper describes the CRSP's method of ad dressing both the demand for spatial information and its specific resp onses to promote an economically viable U.S. industry.
