Abstract
This paper describes efficient ion sources with high-current dc discha rges in a hollow-cathode chamber in a magnetic field. The structures o f discharge chambers with various cathode geometries and cavities are discussed. At an extracting voltage of 10-20 kV, the sources generate constant ion currents of 20-30, 50-80, or 100-150 mA, depending on the ir shape.
