Abstract
A genomic library from Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. cremoris was s creened for D-lactate dehydrogenase activity using a stereospecific la ctate detection test on agar plate. Among 3500 clones tested, six posi tive colonies were found on D-lactate detection plate, displaying sign ificantly higher D-LDH activity than Escherichia coli host strain.
