I. Merfort et al., SEPARATION OF SESQUITERPENE LACTONES FROM ARNICAE-FLOS DAB-10 BY MICELLAR ELECTROKINETIC CHROMATOGRAPHY, Phytochemical analysis, 8(1), 1997, pp. 5-8
Capillary electrophoresis in the micellar mode offers a further analyt
ical method to identify the sesquiterpene lactones in Arnicae dos DAB
10 originating from Arnica montana and A, chamissonis subsp, foliosa.
Compared to high performance liquid chromatographic analysis on revers
ed-phase columns, nearly the same separation of these active compounds
may be obtained, Polar alcohols are eluted before esterified derivati
ves, and the sesquiterpene lactones, derived from 11 alpha,13-dihydroh
elenalin, eluted before the corresponding compounds with an exomethyle
ne group at C-11, Furthermore, the elution order is influenced by subs
titution at C-2 and C-6 of the skeleton. (C) 1997 by John Wiley & Sons
