Abstract
The acidic compounds of the hexane extract of Vellozia flavicans could be selectively isolated when submitted to McCarthy and Duthie chromat ography on a potassium hydroxide impregnated silica gel flash column f ollowed by purification by C-18 reversed-phase semipreparative high pr essure liquid chromatography, This method allowed the characterization of five acidic diterpenes, two of which could only be identified by c oinjection of the appropriate standards owing to their very low concen tration in the extract.
