Abstract
Electronic properties of open but well-defined nano-systems have been
studied quantum-mechanically. The energy states, electronic densities
and the quantum-mechanical currents of such systems are dependent on t
he wave functions at the boundaries of the systems, the number of elec
trons inside the system, and the size of the system.
