THE PLANT CYTOSKELETON

Particles that can nucleate microtubules in vitro have been isolated f rom higher plant cells. Observations of living cells injected with flu orescent probes have improved our understanding of plant cytoskeleton dynamics. Despite growing recognition of the need for biochemical stud ies on cytoskeleton-associated proteins, little progress has been made in this field in the past year, although plant lamins have been isola ted and partially characterized.
