An infant suffered sternal infection and ventricular septal patch dehi
scence after a truncus arteriosus repair. Successful reoperation used
rifampicin-impregnated gelatin-sealed Dacron to repair the recurrent v
entricular septal defect and replace the contaminated conduit. This wa
s an effective solution to a potentially lethal surgical complication.
